Zipp’s ultimate aero weapon is now tubeless-ready. That means you get the many aero advantages of the 858 NSW Tubeless rim-brake wheelset with the added benefit of increased cornering grip and compliance with reduced rolling resistance. The wheelset’s 18mm internal width is optimized for running wider tires at reduced air pressure.

The 858 NSW’s undulating 77/82mm-deep rim shape, our proprietary Sawtooth™ profile, takes design cues from nature for our highest performing wheel when it comes to aero efficiency and crosswind stability. These structures inspired Zipp advanced development engineers to, for the first time, systematically apply biomimicry to solve the complex challenge of designing a wheel, with the undulating Hyperfoil™ nodes, that reduces both aerodynamic drag and side force. Simply put, the 858 NSW Tubeless is ideal for those focused on triathlon, time trials, or aggressive road riding.

Additional Features:

Updated Zipp graphics and cosmetic identity that screams speed, applied using Zipp’s ImPress™ direct-print technology
Cognition DB hubset rolls efficiently whether you are pedalling or coasting. Its Axial Clutch™ technology allows the freehub’s ratcheting mechanism to deliver half the mechanical drag of conventional three-pawl hubs
18mm internal width and tubeless compatibility for optimization of wider tires with lower tire pressure
Sawtooth™ rim with Hyperfoil™ nodes and HexFin™ ABLC dimple pattern for top aero and crosswind-stability performance with an undulating 77/82mm rim depth
Ships with QR end caps, quick release skewers
Campagnolo driver body sold separately

Lifetime Warranty

Zipp wheels, handlebars, stems and seatposts come with a lifetime warranty for product issues while riding. The lifetime warranty is not transferrable. Proof of purchase is required.

Technologies:

ABLC Sawtooth

Zipp’s Sawtooth dimple design consists of 12 nodes that are specifically clocked to start aerodynamic shearing at a rate of 50hz at a rider speed of 20mph. Sawtooth accomplishes this by inducing small sheet vortices that shed at a low magnitude, but at a higher natural frequency, thus decreasing the laminar bubble effect on the aerodynamically shielded side of the rim’s profile to further reduce high yaw drag and improve crosswind stability.

HexFin ABLC

HexFin ABLC dimples are the hexagonally shaped depressions found at each Hyperfoil of Zipp's Sawtooth shaped NSW rims. The angular shape of each dimple increases boundary layer mixing to help keep airflow attached to the rim for reduced aerodynamic drag and improved stability in crosswinds. To further improve the effectiveness of the hexagonal dimples, they are arranged in fin-shaped clusters made up of variable-sized dimples that work in concert with each Hyperfoil of a Sawtooth rim.

Hyperfoil

Hyperfoil is the name given to the individual nodes on Zipp NSW variable depth Sawtooth rims. Each of these patented structures features Zipp's HexFin ABLC dimples that help to stabilise handling in gusting wind by increasing wind vortex shedding frequency. The higher frequency vortex shedding produced by Sawtooth creates a greater number of smaller, less powerful, yet more predictable vortices leading to greater wheel stability. This added stability translates into greater rider control, thereby saving energy that is typically expended trying to hold a line in gusting wind. The result is a faster, more confident riding experience whether you are laying down power or descending sinuous mountain roads.

 Axial Clutch

With Cognition’s Axial Clutch technology, riders can maintain speed through corners that don’t require braking input, thereby increasing corner exit speeds. Inside the Axial Clutch mechanism, Zipp uses magnets, rather than steel springs, to move and engage its lightweight Metal Injection Molded (MIM) ratchet rings for unmatched reliability and consistent operation. With 36 points of engagement that all interlock simultaneously, there isn’t a more secure freehub mechanism on the market.

Cognition Hubset

With the Cognition hubset’s Axial Clutch technology, Zipp has reduced this drag by disengaging the ratchet mechanism when coasting. So you can approach corners at higher speeds, and ultimately, save time. A star-flanged straight-pull hubshell design on the rear hub distributes the load placed on the hub flange away from the bearings. Zipp has also developed a unique scalloped edge hubshell design for its front hub. This scalloped design maintains the bearing bore diameter when high radial spoke tension is applied. That means you get bearings that quietly stay in place, roll faster, last longer, and provide a laterally stiffer hub.

Showstopper

Zipp's industry-leading silicon carbide Showstopper brake track continues to evolve and improve, providing unmatched stopping power and modulation regardless of weather conditions or the length of the descent.

Impress

Zipp has employed its ImPress graphics technology, which prints graphics directly on the wheel, to help allow the dimples to do what they were designed to do – help control vortex shedding, the rate at which air sheds off the wheel. Managing this is crucial to stability. ImPress graphics also give 808 NSW a distinctive stealthy look.
