This gravel bike tyre features a smooth centreline with a herringbone outer tread, which makes it more than capable of handling all the intensity that comes with riding across mixed terrains. Its rounded profile with vertical channels also enhances its cornering characteristics, so you can benefit from excellent handling when pedalling into bends. Coming kitted out with WTB's Dual DNA compound, this model delivers a fast-rolling centreline with great corning traction.
Horizon brings supple plus-size traction and smooth riding characteristics beyond where the pavement ends. This high-volume 650b tyre pairs an all-weather herringbone pattern with parallel grooves to improve cornering traction on crumbling tarmac and increase comfort on hardpack. The Horizon provides deceivingly elegant performance on pavement, with a resilience that isn’t shaken by chasing confidants down dusty roads. The Horizon creates a new riding experience, regardless of where your exploits lead you.
These tyres are available with WTB's SG2 Puncture Protection, which is a lightweight nylon insert that provides bead-to-bead coverage and ensures every area of the tyre is defended against slashes and punctures. As events become progressively rougher and cyclists pedal farther, gravel gets tougher. It only makes sense for gravel tyres to become tougher as well.
Technologies:
Dual DNA Compound: Two rubber compounds. The centerline tread features a firmer rubber compound that rolls fast and resists tread wear while the side knobs are composed of softer, slower-rebounding rubber to improve control and grip. All Dual DNA tyres fall within the Fast Rolling category.
SG2 Puncture Protection: Nylon fibres have a flat profile, which reduces the amount of rubber needed to fill the gaps between fibres and minimises weight. Protected SG2 gravel tyres feature a 120tpi casing, which improves suppleness compared to a traditional 60tpi tyre. SG2 was specifically designed to be a puncture protection layer, but it also improves air retention and eliminates seeping at the sidewall.
Tyre Pressure Information: WTB's tyre pressure recommendations have changed over time due to further developments in technology. Riders may always reference the markings on their tyres for allowed pressures ranges, but WTB calculate pressure recommendations based on an average rider weight of 160-180 lbs and suggest increasing the minimum recommended pressure by 2-3psi for every additional 10 lbs of rider weight. Never exceed the maximum tyre pressure marked on a tyre.
