The ZX-1 has sat at the pinnacle of the Vitus range for a long time. Since 1991, this model has been a pioneer in carbon construction, and the latest evolution provides superior aerodynamic efficiency and performance-enhancing stability in all race and weather conditions. With a stiff and flex-free construction, this bike significantly increases your performance output when sprinting, putting the power down on demanding climbs and when racing to the bottom of steep alpine descents.
The ZX-1 also features a UCI approved frameset, which is used by the UCI Continental Pro cycling team and is raced by some of Britain’s top talent, including multiple Olympic champion Ed Clancy OBE.
Powering the ZX-1 forward is a Shimano Ultegra R8000 Di2 drivetrain, the R8000 groupset is sleak stealth groupset designed for power transfer and aesthetics. The all new chainset with its enhanced design to increase stiffness on the downwards pedal is coupled up with a 52/36t semi-compact chainset.
Shimano have redeveloped the shifters to make them more ergonomical and with combined with the Di2 electronic shifting system gives great comfort and easy shifting. These are then wired up to the new compact electronic front derailleur, which is contected to the internal seat tube battery and barend remote. The R8050 rear derailleur uses Shimanos ever reliable Shadow system which allows you to run wider ratio cassette. Vitus have then spec'd the 11-30t cassette making sure that you are supported up the hills as well as down them.
The Di2 systems offers a clean reliable gear support but not only can you jump between syncro, semi syncro or standard gear change. You can download Shimano's E-tube and custom tune your gear change to suit your personal riding style.
Coupled up with the Shimano R8000 Di2 drivetrain is a set of the all new Ultegra hydraulic brakes, Using the new flat mount standard the Shimano brakes work on a dual piston braking system allowing a lighter and better performing brake. Coupled up with 160/140mm Shimano's rotors and IceTec pads these brake will not let you down when you need to stop no matter what the conditions!
This road-race dominator rolls on Prime Black Edition wheels and Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless 25c tyres for superior reliability, power-transfer and cornering finesse in all riding conditions. It's cornering stability and delivery of power to its rear wheel is enhanced further thanks to having a 12mm thru-axles, which stiffen the frame to component contact points.
As a finishing touch Vitus has spec'd a mix of thier own finishing kit, Prime and Prologo. Complimenting the frameset is a Vitus custom aero Carbon seatpost with a 25mm offset allowing plenty of adjustment to ensure the bike fits well. This coupled up with the Prologo Kappa Evo PAS saddle making sure that you are comfortable whilst on those long rides. Aiding at the front end of the bike is a Prime Doyenne 6 Bolt stem bolted to a set of the Prime alloy Doyenne bars allowing maximum comfort and control with aero features.
Rest assured that each bike is fully built, tested and tuned by Wiggle's team of qualified bike mechanics to ensure your bike arrives in perfect condition. Find out which size fits you by clicking the size chart tab.
First emerging as a frame builder in 1970s France, Vitus Bikes played a pivotal role in pioneering the design and manufacture of lugged and bonded aluminium frames, the most iconic being the 979, groundbreaking at the time and still prized among collectors today. In 1982 we engineered and developed the 979 Carbone, one of the very first frames to take carbon fibre technology from the aerospace industry and apply it to bikes. Their tradition of innovation continued throughout subsequent decades with frames which included the 1991 ZXI monocoque carbon frame, the spirit of which lives on in their latest generation of monocoque road bikes. Without exception, each of the bikes – from their singlespeed commuter to the high-end carbon road model – won plaudits for their ride quality, build and great value. The reviews confirmed what they knew all along, and they intend to improve on these already test-winning models as Vitus push forward with the development of this great brand of bikes. “Credit has to be due to a brand that has come back from the ashes and rather than milk the prestige of the old days, has set its sights on the biggest players on the scene.” CYCLIST magazine. Vitus bikes have been tested in many of the top cycling titles and websites across all disciplines. Their bikes have won group tests across Europe and are regarded as some of the best on the market.
