About the Vitus brand

First emerging as a frame builder in 1970s France, Vitus Bikes played a pivotal role in pioneering the design and manufacture of lugged and bonded aluminium frames, the most iconic being the 979, groundbreaking at the time and still prized among collectors today. In 1982 we engineered and developed the 979 Carbone, one of the very first frames to take carbon fibre technology from the aerospace industry and apply it to bikes. Their tradition of innovation continued throughout subsequent decades with frames which included the 1991 ZXI monocoque carbon frame, the spirit of which lives on in their latest generation of monocoque road bikes. Without exception, each of the bikes – from their singlespeed commuter to the high-end carbon road model – won plaudits for their ride quality, build and great value. The reviews confirmed what they knew all along, and they intend to improve on these already test-winning models as Vitus push forward with the development of this great brand of bikes. “Credit has to be due to a brand that has come back from the ashes and rather than milk the prestige of the old days, has set its sights on the biggest players on the scene.” CYCLIST magazine. Vitus bikes have been tested in many of the top cycling titles and websites across all disciplines. Their bikes have won group tests across Europe and are regarded as some of the best on the market.

Vitus Substance SRS-2 Adventure Road Bike (2020) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Timsam from A good all-rounder I've had this bike for a few weeks now and I really like it for road/commuting/occasional off-road I like the red-grey colour scheme but the decals are all a bit too muted for my taste, even the 725 decal is red-grey I added the Lifeline wide mudguard set that fits easily and is cheaper than many of the alternatives while doing a good job The only thing that I've changed are the handlebars and stem, the OEM handlebars have a flattened aero centre-section and don't suit my light mounts It's still a bit odd looking down at a 47mm front tyre, but I haven't noticed any huge difference in commute time against my old 28mm commuter

Rated 4 out of 5 by cyborg9no1 from Great, fun road bike that can go off road. I am about 185cm (6’1’’), and I purchased the XL. It feels fast on pavement, and I don’t think the 650b wheels / tires slow me down. Off road, the bicycle handles packed dirt, light gravel, and grassy lanes with ease. The wider tires also make me think this would be great for light bike packing / touring. Where I am having difficulty is when the road gets rough. I’m too stretched out. This is either a problem with the frame design, or I may just have bought a frame too big for me. Ruts, slightly larger rocks, and potholes are painful, and I have difficulty staying confidently in control. When this rough road goes downhill, I am unable to lower my center of gravity. When this rough road goes uphill, I have to remain in my seat for the back tire to maintain traction. If you are between sizes, I recommend a smaller size frame. Perhaps a dropper post would help for the descents. The gearing in the Shimano GRX 600 is lower than in Shimano Tiagra or 105. However, I find myself wanting at least two gears still lower. If I were carrying packs (especially off road), I would definitely need lower gears. I’m 50. The hills here are steep. Also, I find the GRX derailleur keeps needing adjusting. I’ve tried to do this myself, but the bicycle shop has helped me out twice with this. Is this a common problem with GRX? In the past, I’ve had bicycles with Shimano Sora or Tiagra derailleurs that I never touched for years...except for cleaning. Steel is real. I don’t know. The bicycle is heavier than carbon, but I don’t mind. The ride on pavement feels smooth. The frame doesn’t bend around. Off road, I think I need some suspension. I’m thinking of purchasing a Rockstop Suspension Seatpost to help smooth out some of the bumps. I recommend this bicycle if you want a good road bicycle that also goes off road. The 650b tires are good fun. The Red / Black color is really keen. Thank you Wiggle.

Wrong picture and drivetrain?

Is this running the grx 600 1x11 drive chain with a 40front and 11-42 cassette? The photos and the drivetrain info seems to show the 2x drivetrain details.
