Ideal for gravel racing and long distance off-road gravel cycling, the Vitus Substance 2 Gravel Bike (Microshift) features a strong and lightweight alloy frame, carbon forks, a 2x8-Speed groupset from Microshift and Tektro disc brakes.

The Substance 2 features a strong and lightweight high-quality aluminium frame, carbon fibre forks and a 2x8-Speed groupset from Microshift. It is also equipped with Tektro mechanical disc brakes, and it rolls upon Tubeless Ready WTB ST i23 TSC rims wrapped in all-terrain Vee Rail Sport tyres.

Microshift 8-Speed Groupset and Tektro Disc Brakes

Whether embarking on a far-flung bikepacking trip, gravel ride or simply staying light for a mixed-terrain local loop, the Substance 2 with dependable Microshift components can adapt to suit your ride. At its core, a double-butted aluminium frame and carbon fork are tuned for comfort on long days and across varied surfaces, aided by big volume tyres that soften the bumps and add traction over rutted or loose tracks. This model is setup with a 2x drivetrain, but the frame is also compatible with 1X groupsets and either 700c or 650b wheels, so you can really fine-tune the bike to best fit where you are riding. For longer rides with gaps between supply points, there are mounts for luggage and water bottles, as well as for mudguards to shield you from mud and water.

About the Vitus brand

First emerging as a frame builder in 1970s France, Vitus Bikes played a pivotal role in pioneering the design and manufacture of lugged and bonded aluminium frames, the most iconic being the 979, groundbreaking at the time and still prized among collectors today. In 1982 we engineered and developed the 979 Carbone, one of the very first frames to take carbon fibre technology from the aerospace industry and apply it to bikes. Their tradition of innovation continued throughout subsequent decades with frames which included the 1991 ZXI monocoque carbon frame, the spirit of which lives on in their latest generation of monocoque road bikes.
