The instructions were easy to understand and even provided a link to a tutorial on YouTube. The fork mount means more rigidity and piece of mind when transporting on roof.Definitely recommend this product

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent bike carrier Easy to set up and get the bike mounted. I used the T-track on my (non-Thule) bars and it is super-secure when clamped down. Pulling on the bike when mounted wobbles the car, not the bike, so it is really well held. The carrier is also very light, yet feels sturdy. I got a great visual comparison to the Thule 591/598 driving down the motorway - a neighbouring car carrying the same model bike as mine on a 591 or 598 went past wobbling away quite significantly, and I glance up through the sunroof to see my bike barely moving a millimetre. I don't know how secure the carrier-to-bike lock is, as it essentially just prevents you opening the fork clamp when locked. This means it is relying on the "lawyer tabs" on quick release dropouts or just the clamping pressure if there are none to prevent a prospective thief just yanking the fork out from the clamp. The rear wheel is held to the carrier only by a plastic strap. This wouldn't be an issue for thru-axles I suppose but I don't have such a bike to test this on. It is not great value compared to other carriers, especially as you have to transport your front wheel separately (either inside the car or on a separate carrier).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take them for granted. Bought two of these carriers for carrying carbon frame MTBs. Apart from needing to change the adapters to suit different width through axles, I’ve just taken these for granted. They work well, and are reliable.

is this a suitable rack for a carbon frame bike?

This should be fine for Carbon framed bikes. The rack doesn't clamp the frame it clamps the rear wheel and front fork.

Hi, i am interested in buying the Thule Outride 561

Can you tell me if it is suitable to carry my Cube Carbon road bike and my Specialised Stumpjumper Full Suspension. Also i have Thule Square roof bars on my car,will the 561 attach to them okay and they are spaced at 700mm, can the carrier adjust to this width ? Thanks

It's perfect for carbon bikes, that is why I bought it.. I have a Scott addict and a Specialized rockhopper and both fit on the Thule outride 561.

It is as easy for someone to remove your rack as it is for you do so. Generally you should remove the rack if it is not in use.

Is the THULE 561 suitable for carrying my BMC racemaster with Easton carbon fork? Some people say its fine, otheres say its not....

You should be fine although the rack doesn't hold the frame in any way so all the stress is put through the rear wheel and QR mounting. I would worry that you would have to tighten the quick release alot in order to get a solid fitting so perhaps it would be better to go for a conventional frame mounting upright stand instead.

15mm Adaptor for suspension forks.

As supplied, the carrier should fit standard forks and 20mm suspension forks using the supplied adaptor. Do you sell the additional 15mm adaptor?
