Operation

Dropping the saddle in when descending or tackling rocky or rooty terrin gives you a more controlled and balanced ride, being able to raise the saddle back quickly lets you keep riding without stopping to adjust. The Elite Dropper Seatpost is designed not to extend when the saddle is used to hang the bike on a lift chair. 5mm of setback is built in to the seatpost cradle allowing a little more cockpit room.

Construction

The Thomson cartridge based system is designed to have the longest service life in the industry. If repair is needed, it is fast affordable and simple. Every single component is the best available; Custom made Norglide bearing bushings, custom made Trelleborg O-Rings and seals, Thomson saddle clamps and fasteners, and Motul Oil. The Elite Dropper post bears all the precision engineering characteristics and the beautiful machined finish of a Thomson Elite product.

While all dropper posts will require servicing, the Thomson Dropper Post has a guaranteed field life of 2 years and the easiest, least expensive service procedure. The Thomson replaceable internal cartridge system makes servicing quick and foolproof. All seals are sized to fit perfectly and the synthetic oil is formulated to work in a wide temperature range. The cartridge is charged with 100% nitrogen for increase stability in all temperatures. Custom double lipradial spring outer bushings are used for both smooth operation and maximum resistance to contamination. Custom made Norglide bearing bushings ensure years of service with no lateral play in the saddle.

The Side mounted actuation mechanism allows the dropper post to retail all the critical dimensions of the Thomson Elite cradle-bolt and clamp geometry. A one-piece forged inner stanchion is used for strength and reliability with no joint to loosen and fail. The travel is actuated by a cam, this offers smooth variable speed/height adjustment without resorting to a complicated, damage prone hydraulic actuator.
