About the Suunto brand

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well, but clips let it down I have had no problems with the way this monitor works, it has reliably given me decent believable readings for over a year and I have used it 3-4 times a week. The only issue I have is the clips between the strap and the unit break. The strap connects to the monitor unit on both sides, so when the first connector broke (this was on the unit side of the clip) I glued it in place, I was able to unclip the other side to put the strap on and take it off. This worked well for a few months and probably because the second side was getting extra use that failed on me. I am giving this 3 as it was very good while it lasted and almost 18 months use in total seems ok to me. As the monitor seems to be working well it might be useful if the strap had an extra stronger buckle in it which could be replaced if it breaks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable, quick to transmit, stays in position. I've used a few alternative brands over the years and once did a trial for research using a Suunto. I always thought that all HR straps slipped and took a bit of time to transmit once attached...The Suunto was almost instant, stayed in position during super smash fest sweat sessions, and I had found that I kept reminding myself that I had it on as I kept expecting it to slip down...it didn't so, uber impressed. And then there is the cost...so cheap. Thumbs up people.

Does the strap contain rubber/latex?

What is the strap made of? Is the strap suitable for those with natural rubber/latex allergies? I.e. is it a synthetic material.

I can confirm the strap itself is made from elasticated material, and the HRM pads either side of the plastic monitor are covered in a Silicone membrane.
