High-End Speed Pedelec Bike

The Stromer ST2 is a high-end speed pedelec with surprisingly many possibilities. It is powerful and efficient, is fully integrated and has an internet connection. In addition, this speed-pedelec is very maintenance-friendly due to the use of a Gates carbon drive belt.

Comfortable, Agile and Stylish

The first ST2 released back in 2014 revolutionized the Stromer line through its digital connectivity. The new ST2 goes a step further and brings several innovations to the Stromer family.

The first thing you notice is the frame with a comfortable sitting position. The ST2 also clearly has more cable integration than the ST1. This Stromer is available in the colours Royal Blue and Dark Grey. The daytime running lights, which are located at the front of the steering head, have been given a new and fresh design. The CYRO Drive IG motor is good for no less than 750W and 40Nm, which means that this Stromer also shamelessly reaches the maximum speed of 45 km/h.

The ST2 is standard equipped with a 618Wh battery, which can be upgraded to 814Wh or even 983Wh. The ST2 is supplied from the factory with an OMNI C display. This way you have more connectivity and theft prevention as standard.

The most spectacular innovation of the ST2 is reflected in the drive. That is where Stromer has chosen the maintenance-friendly and durable Gates carbon drive belt! Together with the SA 5-speed hub gear and the renewed Stromer E-Gridlock tires, this ensures maximum power transfer.

OMNI C Cycle App

With the Stromer app you can read the trip data, the battery level, the battery temperature and the engine temperature. All you need is a 3G internet connection. With OMNI C you lock and unlock the bicycle digitally, this means it is completely keyless. You also have the option of choosing driving programs and even installing personalized driving programs on your Stromer. Because OMNI C works via the 3G network, we can read your Stromer remotely and provide it with new software.

The Stromer portal offers a complete overview of your Stromer. For example, the interval notification of the next service for the support of the Stromer service team. The service team recognizes minor problems with your speed bike remotely and solves them for you right away. Via the Stromer portal, the dealer can configure and analyse your Stromer and follow up service messages and maintenance schedules. In addition, you have access to important service-related data of your Stromer.

Note: there are two variants of this bike available here, Comfort and Sport. The Sport version has a standard bike frame whereas the Comfort has a step-through design that makes stepping on and off the bike easier.

Speed Pedelecs are fantastic vehicles for commuting or leisure, but customers must be aware of the legalities surrounding their usage.

The information below is a fact sheet that gives a quick introduction to what constitutes a S-Pedelec, and what is needed to ride them legally in the UK.

Definition of a Speed Pedelec:

A pedal bicycle with motor assistance up to 45km/h
Motor power exceeds 250W
Officially categorised as a moped in the UK

Legal Requirements to Ride in the UK:

Driving license
Vehicle registration and number plate
Vehicle tax
Insurance
Helmet certified for use on Mopeds
Driving Licence Specifics
Driving test passed prior to Feb 1st 2001 = qualified to ride a Speed Pedelec
Driving test passed after 2001 = Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) required prior to riding a Speed Pedelec
CBT test will take one day, and cost around £150. CBT certificate is valid for 2 years
‘L’ plates required after CBT test until full motorbike test taken
Full Motorcycle test required to be taken and passed in 2 years, or a fresh CBT required
Speed Pedelecs are considered Mopeds in the UK and are subject to the same laws as a moped or motorbike
License plates are required
Mirrors come with the bike and should be fitted
Forms required are V267 (new vehicle import), V55/4 (Application for a licence for a new motor vehicle and declaration for registration), and certificate of conformity
V267 and V55/4 are from the DVLA. Certificate of conformity will be with the bike: this is required to complete the V267 and V55/4 form
Fill in and send V267 and V55/4, along with the Certificate of Conformity to DVLA to register the bike
Receive V5c form: vehicle is now registered
Vehicle is tax exempt due to zero emissions
Get a standard number plate
Arrange insurance: this will range from around £130 for third party, to £200 for fully comprehensive
MOT is required after 3 years

Usage:

Speed Pedelecs cannot be ridden on cycle paths or cycle lanes
Moped/Motorbike helmet required as per UK Motorcycle helmet rules (EU Pedelec certified helmets are not currently compliant)
While it seems a lengthy checklist for those who don’t already hold a relevant license, it is worth the time investment to access the countryside, city or open your commute to the possibilities of (speedy) two wheels.
