About the SRAM brand

Product manuals and service guides for all SRAM, Rockshox, Avid and Truvativ products can be found at sram.com or videos can be found on YouTube. SRAM Corporation was founded in Chicago, IL (USA) in 1987 by six employees with one component, Gripshift Twist Shifters. Today, SRAM’s commitment and growth can be measured by its 1,500 employees, its 150+ cycling products, and it’s 12 facilities worldwide. SRAM has found tremendous growth through innovative products, unparallel customer service, strong sales, and complimentary acquisitions. SRAM acquisitions include Sachs Bicycle Components, purchased in 1997, a leading manufacturer of chains, cassettes and hubs. In 2002 SRAM purchased RockShox, the world’s mountain bike suspension specialist. 2004 brought the purchase of both Avid brakes and Truvativ cranks and components. The addition of these companies has allowed SRAM to grow into the world’s second largest component supplier to the cycling industry. SRAM's core philosophy is to make cycling better. Their commitment is expressed in their local, national and international team and event sponsorship.

do i need any special tools to fit this chain?

Asked by: 24rali
The power link allows you to change the chain without tools. However the chain will more than likely need shortened by a few links depending on the bike etc and you will need a chain breaker to do this.

Hi. Will this chain be suitable to replace a Shimano HG 53 chain?

It's a 9 speed. If it isn't suitable can you tell me which ones are please. thanks.
Asked by: steveaustin
Shimano/SRAM chains and cassettes are compatible. I have KMC chain, SRAM cassette and Shimano gears on my hardtail, all works cheeky. You can't use SRAM shifters on Shimano gears or vice versa but chains and cassettes are fine (as long as you observe the number of gears)

SRAM chains compatible with Shimano gears?

Being big bloke i have fitted a 9 speed 12-32 cassette to my cyclocross bike with 46 and 36 chain rings. Because of the change of cassette I added a few links to the chain but the Shimano Sora derailleur still tops out or bottoms out when using 32 gear. Do I need a longer chain (hence SRAM question - I like their link system)? Or do I need a longer dérailleur? Many thanks
Asked by: 123andy
You'll need to change your derailleur a longer chain won't help. Not that many SRAM / Shimano derailleurs will fit 32.

29er compatable ?

Chain doesn't seem quite long enough for 29er. Do 29ers run longer chains ? could you suggest good chain for 29er, 9 speed all xt components? thanks H
Asked by: HF1ER
Chains come longer than necessary so you break them to size, try the sram chains eg.1071 nice chain easy to fit.

Is PC9xx chains compatible with PG850 cassette

Hi, want to replace my chain and I have a SRAM PG850 cassette. I want to ask if PC9xx series chains are compatible with my cassette or I should get an 8speed chain (PC8xx)? Thanks
Asked by: cayt
We would recommend only using same-speed cassettes and chains as the chain width is different between the two. I hope this helps.
