Premium Performance. Without a Premium Price.

While the XC5 (XC501) MTB SPD Shoes sit at the mid-point of Shimano's MTB shoe range there's nothing middling about their performance. Just like their premium XC mountain bike race shoes, this shoe also features the Shimano Dynalast upper design. The upper wraps snuggly around the foot for optimal stability and creates an optimized toe-spring section that allows for a more efficient pedal stroke. Long-distance fatigue is also reduced as a result. This glove-like fit is then secured via the quick and precise Boa® L6 dial. This allows you to get the perfect tension across the foot for incredible comfort and foot-hold. Less fuss. More trail time.

Stiff. Light. Efficient.

With the upper delivering comfort and stability, the stiff sole, rated 7 out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness chart, ensures rapid power transfer. Accelerate into singletrack or fly up a rooty climb and enjoy that instant reaction to your power. Shimano have also ensured a low stack height, keeping your foot closer to the centre line of the pedal axle for greater stability, more natural pedalling and once more to impart optimal efficiency. If you do have to get off and run/push then the MICHELIN® tread gives unshakeable grip over any terrain.

Cleat Guidance

These shoes are compatible with MTB pedal systems, which use the 2-bolt cleat standard (SPD standard), e.g.: Shimano SPD, Time ATAC, CrankBrothers, CrankBrothers Race, Look MTB, Xtreme MTB, Wellgo MTB, Ritchey MTB.

Shimano XC5 (XC501) MTB SPD Shoes is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by David24 from Why pay more, as good as a shoe needs to be. Just make sure you buy a size bigger, dont listen to their sizing if you are a 10 buy their 11, simple. Perfect shoe with easy release cleats, no release drama in any road situation, if an issue just pull in any direction. Quality of shoe very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonogriff from Very pleased with shoes I am new to cycling, purchased a cheap pair of shoes first a f they were awful, upgraded to these and such a difference, sole is so much better a lot stiffer than my cheap pair, leather soft and so comfortable....now feel attached to bike which makes things a lot easier

Rated 5 out of 5 by CuffleyBlade from Mtb shoes that look like road bike shoes Bought the blue colour shoe because I wanted to have a shoe that I can wear with dual pedals as I often cycle leisurely with my wife but which look good when I’m out on my own trying to cycle at pace. I bought a size up and the fit is comfortable - maybe could have got away with normal size but no complaints. Love them

Rated 5 out of 5 by ThinkImStill20 from Quality shoe, perfect gravel bike option Got these to use with my gravel bike, very easy to walk in, a little flex but still plenty stiff enough. Closure system works well. As always with Shimano you'll need at least 1 size bigger than your usual shoe size.
