Rated 5 out of 5 by GertieO from Perfect for purpose Excellent for starting out with SPDs or for people who share a bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nitram47 from Built to last SPD pedals I have 4 pairs of these pedals, fitted to my three recumbents and my upright bicycle Vey efficient SPD system, that can be adjusted to suit ones needs. Extremely durable with cup and cone bearings that are situated right inside the body of the pedal to keep water out. They have a non SPD side as well so flat shoes can be used if necessary. My only gripe is that if they need servicing a double Shimano special box spanner is needed which costs much more than a pair of pedals. Two of the pairs I use are 13 years old and still working perfectly

Rated 5 out of 5 by theSloopJohnB from Top Spinning I got these for my exercise/ spin bike. I always clip in outdoors as does my son but my wife and daughter don’t so wanted something that would suit us all. Also it would give the daughter a chance to experiment with spd without the initial risk of falling off her road bike. Anyway quality product - very pleased and would certainly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jam81 from Nice versatile pedals These pedals are very versatile as they have a flat pedal on one side and sod clear mechanism on the other. Very nice quality product.

Is the quality of the SPD compromised?

Because the Shimano M324 Combination Pedals are "dual purpose" i was wondering whether the quality of the SPD side was any worse than normal "single purpose" SPD pedals? I was thinking of getting them, but was wondering whether it would be worth getting normal SPDs? I'm a bit of a beginner, and have never owned/used SPDs before.. Thanks :)
Asked by: Anonymous
I don't think so, they seem to clip in and out very smoothly.

Is this price for single pedal or for pair?

I'm a beginner. I'm thinking to buy Shimano pedals. I just don't know if the prices are for pair or for one side only. I hope someone can help me.
Asked by: orientexpress1
The price listed is for both the right and left pedal as a pair. As for sides, they clip in on one side and have a standard platform on the other that you can use any shoe with. The pedals come with the cleats you need and work great with any shoe that has a recess in the bottom of it and uses two bolts. You just need a set of hex wrenches and a long wrench to get started. Takes only a few minutes to learn how to line up the front of the cleat and click down with the heel. Then getting out is as easy as turning your foot with your heel out.

Adding reflecters

The UK Highway Code states peddles MUST have reflectors - do they come with reflectors? If not, what options are there to add reflectors and make these pedals legal to use on the road?
Asked by: SpudWLike
By the reflectors and added them if thats the way you wish to go. A real fiddle to fit and get in the way of adjusting the tension.

Are these pedals double sided? Presume they work with Shimano M076 shoes?

Asked by: Motown
They have a clip on one side and a standard flat surface on the other - so can be used with compatible cleats (SH-56's)- I expect your shoes will take these cleats as they are both Shimano but best to check it out. Pedals can also be used with shoes without cleats as you just use the flat side of the pedal

Can you fit toe cages to the 'plain side' of the pedal or will the cleat mechanism be in the way?

Asked by: livebox
Yes you can - I checked mine out & the cleat mechanism is well away from the 'plain side'. There are also holes ready to put the bolts from the toe cages through.

Asked by: ExLionTamer
I actually took one to work to weigh, it is the weight of the pair.

Compatible with Standard Release Cleats?

I use Shimano M324 Combination Pedals on my hybrid commuter bike and wish to buy some double sided SPD pedals (probably Shimano XT M770) for my MTB. The combination pedals take the multi-release cleat and the double sided take the standard cleat. Is it possible to use the same cleats for both pedals? I really want to avoid buying a second pair of shoes or endlessly changing cleats over if possible.
Asked by: johanvee
You can use the SH51 or SH56 cleats with either the M324 or M770 pedals so it just depends on which release method you prefer. You will not need to swap the cleats on your shoes to change bike. SH56 releases by twisting either in or out, SH51 will release if you twist your heel outwards only.

Are the SH-51 cleats compatible with this pedal?

I have two pairs of shoes with SH-51 cleats that I already use with M520 pedals on my current bikes. I fancy putting these double sided pedals on bike #3 but don't want to have two different cleat types on the go. TIA
Asked by: badaltitude
They are supplied with SH51 cleats.

Can I attache Toe Clips..

I want to buy something like this to introduce my wife to cycling with cleats. She is very unsure. So if she decides not to stick with cleats I would like to add on the toe clips.
Asked by: Stiggs
Yes you can, This is one reason why I bought these pedals, it gave me the flexibility to use toe clips or cleats. I started off with toe clips and then moved onto cleats.
