Shimano EW-SD50 E-tube Di2 electric wire is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 3 out of 5 by marinmountaineer from Expensive but necessary A necessary evil as I managed to wrench my existing E8000 controller wire when removing a handlebar grip. Must be the most expensive wire per metre going and you have to ensure you get the right length as no connectors are available and you can't afford to have too much or too little length. However connectors to the fixed electronic componets do work well and securely Can't rate performance as too early but wil ensure I take more care in future

Rated 4 out of 5 by mikep76 from It's a expensive wire but a necessary evil It's a expensive wire but a necessary evil for a DI2 setup. DI2 overall is a great system - make sure you use the insertion/extraction tools to maximise your expensive etube wire's life!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Point from Does What I Does, Essential Item For Di2 Essential item for Di2 builds, however at no fault of Wiggle these are overpriced 2-core wires with proprietary Shimano connectors. Wiggles price was competitive at time of purchase. The wires stretchy outer rubber coating seems durable and resistant to damage.

What does the above cable 'do'? Also I have a 54cm/Med frame, so if this cable is needed! What size?

Asked by: CDJD
This cable is a replacement for the standard size cable supplied with the ultegra electronic groupset. To determine the correct length work out if you need to shorten or lengthen the standard cable, measure the difference and then order the correct one to suit your frame. Shimano has a guide for di2 which may also help http://bike.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/tech_support/tech_tips.download.-Par50lparsys-0034-downloadFile.html/10)%20Di2%20Wire%20Kit%20Instructions.pdf

Can SD50 cable be used as en extension to connect sw-r600 switch to standard road DA9070 controls?

Shimano Di2 SW-R600 Additional Shifter 2x11 - + Shimano EW-SD50 Cable
Asked by: Karol83
The SD50 cable is designed to run from the SM-JC40 junction box under the bottom bracket and connect that junction box to the rear derailleur. According to Shimano's technical documents, the SW-R600 switches plug straight into the 9070's shifter ports without additional cabling being needed.

Is 350mm good for shifter to jybction a mounted under stem

I am buying all the bits i need for a new build with ultegra 6870 di2 i have pro vibe 7s road bars in 42cm, is 350mm the norm for shifter to junction a or should i go 400mm, are there any disadvantages to getting the longer cable just to be sure. thanks
Asked by: paddy001
I would recommend measuring the distance you require the cable to travel to ensure you purchase the correct size.

Agtom, Just measure the tubes the wires are put in to and add about 10-15 cm to give you some slack.

Are these the wires for internal wiring?

The photo shows internal wire ew-sd50i but the part number is the external wire ew-sd50 without the tags to stop the wire rattling.
Asked by: Boonman
These are predominantly external cables, however can be run internally.

male to female extension?

Can this cable be a male to female type of extension? The built-in cables on my aero-bar end shifters are just a little too short.
Asked by: wlgcyclist
Unfortunately these are only available in a Female to Female end cap option I'm afraid.

What length cable to connect a EW-WU101 to a DA9070 rear derailleur?

What length cable to connect a EW-WU101 to a DA9070 rear derailleur? I imagine I only need a short one but the shortest you have listed is 350mm. I have seen 250mm sold elsewhere. Advice appreciated!
Asked by: DazPix
The length of wire needed would be up to yourself dependent on how far up your seat stay you would want to mount the Ew-Wu101 Di2 Wireless Ant. 350mm would be sufficient.
