Shimano Deore XT M8000 11 Speed Rear Derailleur is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by bumper from Standard mount & direct mount compatible This rear mech is a standard bolt on mount, you can remove the bolt on section to get a direct mount. I’m running it as 1x setup on my winter bike with a microshift 11speed bar end shifter on drop bars. Works perfectly, shifts are smooth and silent with 42t cassette.

Rated 5 out of 5 by konabob from Shimano, strong and reliable Great service, great product, quick delivery, happy

Rated 4 out of 5 by Gav1831 from gearing up Replacement for a very well used and reliable product, easy to install although needed some adjustment. Out of the box fitting is really easy although seemed to be set for a 8 or 9 speed cassette, so required some adjustment to get it running smooth, so some understanding of gearing would be required to get the adjacent correct, as no instruction with it but you can go online for the info or watch a Youtube video. Once on and adjusted very smooth changing and the clutch is essential for MTB use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HM1100S from shimano quality Brought this to replace an M9000 XTR derailleur which had an argument with a rock and lost. OK so it weighs around 50 grams more, but at the rate I break them, really that doesn't matter, paired with the XTR shifter it performs brilliantly. the XTR has the bling factor but for the real world of leisure MTB's this is all you need. If i was racing XC then the grams might count.

Is this really a direct mount rear derailleur?

The description says that it's a direct mount rear derailleur (DRD), which means that it doesn't include the upper link that connects to a conventional/non-DRD frame. But the photo shows a conventionally mounted derailleur. Which is it Wiggle?
Asked by: Dave678678
This medium (GS) version and the long cage (SGS) version of the XT M8000 Rear Derailleur can both be mounted conventionally, or direct mounted by removing the top link. It would be better if Product Description stated "Conventionbal/Direct Mount compatible".

I am running a 105, 5800 series, 11 speed on my road bike. Can I use this RD with my 5800 shifters? I want to run an XT 11-40 cassette for use in the mountains. Has anyone tried this? Thanks.
Asked by: richy20
Have a look at the JTek Shiftmate 8. It's a little device that changes the pull ratio so 11 speed road shifters can work with 11 speed MTB rear derailleur.

Will this work with a 10 speed shifter and a 10s 11-42 cassette?

Hi, I have moved to a single ring on the front and a 10speed 11-42 rear cassette. I currently have a 2009 xtr rear mech and I understand this probably won't work with the 42 -11. There is lots of mention about goat links and rad cages but also that the M8000 would work without the need for them. Is this the case and would it work with my 10 speed shifter? Thanks.
Asked by: Sharky123
Unfortunately this wont be suitable.

Could I swap out my Shimano XT M772 9 Speed Rear Derailleur for this and a Shimano Deore XT M8000 Cassette (11-46) for an 11 speed setup?

Asked by: Cooch
Unfortunately this would not be compatible you would also need to change the shifters, chain and chainset.

Does this come with the cable & outer?

Can confirm inner and outer cables are not supplied with the derailleur.

Can I run a 11 - 46 cassette on this with a 1x11 set up?

Asked by: piegestive
For a 1 x 11 speed system a 46t maximum sprocket size will work with this rear mech.

Compatability

Hi Which gear hanger do I need with a Cube Analogue frame? Mine has snapped and I cannot see what it was. Also is this derailleur compatible with SRAM chainring and 11 speed casette? Best Wishes
Asked by: Tomiping
With regards to the hanger, we suggest getting in touch with a product expert on the link below: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ContactUsForm For the derailleur it would not be recommended to mix and match SRAM and Shimano components

Will this RD work with Ultegra or 105 road shifters and a Deore XT cassette?

Asked by: Raffmb
Sadly this won't be compatible with the 105 road shifters. You can use the M7000, M8000 and the M9000 mtb shifters. The cassette will be compatible. If you require any further assistance , feel free to contact us: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ContactUsForm
