SmartGuard The most efficient protection belt there is for bike tyres, in other words: flatless. Solid, 5 mm thick layer of highly flexible special rubber provides permanent protection also in the case of embedded objects. Even thumbtacks are no problem for this tyre.

Improved Rolling resistance The patented, 5 mm thick SmartGuard layer, when compared to all generic products, has a significant advantage in rolling resistance. We further extended its lead in the latest version. Also in the SmartGuard, we now use a proportion of recycled rubber from old latex products.

"Anti-aging" side wall It now lasts much longer before developing unsightly cracks when subjected to use with too low air pressure.

About the Schwalbe brand

For over 70 years Schwalbe have dominated the two wheeled tyre industry in Germany and Europe, being voted best MTB tyre brand in Germany for the past two years. From the very early beginnings where the company founder, Earnest-Wilhelm Bohle capitalised on the developing cycle industry, to the ultra modern distribution facility near Cologne, Schwalbe have continued to design and manufacture some of the finest bicycle tyres available. Schwalbe's success is due in part to the effort it makes in product development from lab tests at the manufacturing facility to the hardest proving grounds of all, professional cycle racing. 'Team Gerolsteiner' achieved a very creditable 7th place overall in the 2004 Tour de France and the unique performance of team captain Davide Rebellin winning three major classic races back to back using Schwalbe tyre. Other notable succeses include Normann Stadler winning the infamous Ironman triathlon in Hawaii, riding Schwalbe Stelvio tyres.

Schwalbe Marathon Plus Rigid MTB Tyre is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 42.
Rated 5 out of 5 by DaveTimp61 from Awesome Product hard to fit I now have these excellent German tyres on my my road and shopping bike (700C and 26 inch wheels). They soak up pot holes unlike my summer tyres. The 26 inch were hard to fit, the 700C's nearly defeated me. Lubricanting with talcum powder finally did the trick + I need to get better tyre levers (on order). I wouldn't like a puncture in the dark on a winter day with these tyres unless I like long walks home! Upside is Schwalbe claim the tyre to be near puncture proof.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Purdicom from Rock solid These are virtually impossible to puncture in normal use - but the ride quality is appalling: It may as well be solid rubber, even at 60psi on 35mm. Schwalbe make fantastic tyres, but this isn't one of them. For something superior, try the Schwalbe Supreme's - they also resist punctures, but they roll beautifully. They might not survive a nuclear apocalypse in the way the marathon+, but in all other circumstances they are superior. If all you've known is marathon+ and you mainly ride on the road, or the odd track - try the Supreme's - I'm sure you'll never go back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Delpel from Excellent Tyres Brought these tyres to replace some very old and noisy ones on our Tandem. After 650 miles I am really pleased with them. They are very quite with a lot less rolling resistance. No punctures or dramas in the wet. Very pleased with them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MJC63 from Great tyre but tough to fit. These are quality tyres but as the name says they are rigid! Not easy to fit although some rim/tyre combinations are easier to get off and on than others. I had to use washing up liquid on the rim, bent a quality Park tyre lever and pinched the inner tube before finally getting the tyre on. . Hopefully they do their job and stop punctures as getting the tyre off and on at the side of the road would be a real challenge. However still the best tyre for city commute.

Inner tubes needed

Sorry - I am nooby to puttings road tyres on an MTB. Do these tyres need inner tubes and is so, are they included? Advice - how do I decide between a 1.35 or a 1.5 etc.
Asked by: Pistolpehi
I can confirm that that you would need to purchase inner tubes to fit with these tyres. The difference in the tyres is how wide they are so it comes down to whether you want wide or narrow tyres, depending on the width of the tyre will mean that you have to get wider inner tubes.

I need help choosing road tyres for my bike

I have a Merida Matts 70 and want to know what slick tyres are best for it. It is important that they have good puncture protection.
Asked by: Altair
Look no further if it's puncture protection you're after. These have a good slick/tread balance IMO.

Thnx in advance.
Asked by: Gabe64
The max PSI varies depending on the width, with the narrower tyres being higher, though typically this varies between 60 and 85 PSI.

Will they fit my current mtb wheels?

Will the 1.35s fit on my current mtb wheels. They are 26 inch. Front has inside width of 19mm, the back inside width of 22mm. Also which inner tube would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
Asked by: Ellzy27
Yes, you can fit this tries on tour wheels and I'd recommend teh Continental Quality MTB Inner Tube - 26x1.1-1.3 (Opt-C) Black - Presta 42mm: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/continental-quality-mtb-inner-tube/

Tyre size

My MTB rims are 559 x17 currently they have 2.2 width nobblly tyres . I want to roadiise my bike and narrower tyre with less resistance. With schwalbe tyres what is the narrowest tyre I could use on my rims.
Asked by: Zola63
You will be fine to use the 1.35" tyre on your rims.

Would this tyre replace my current 26"x 1.95 fit?

Asked by: LaptopBaz
You could use this as a replacement, it will be a little narrower but would still offer decent grip and speed.
