Perfect for the swimmer looking for the ultimate swim assistance - now with extended 0.88Free technology for the ultimate feeling of freedom and an even higher level of buoyancy to keep you streamlined even when you tire.
0.88 FREE TECHNOLOGY
At just 0.88mm thick, the 0.88 Free Material used on the sleeves, underarms and now upper back of the Predator make it feel like you're not even wearing a wetsuit - with total freedom throughout every phase of your stroke. Titanium coating on this super flexible material provides thermal protection for your arms to regulate your temperature.
EXOLIFT WITH AERODOME
The unique sandwiching of Exo-Lift technology and the super buoyant Aerodome neoprene on the lower front and back of the suit provides the ultimate lift where it's most needed. These panels have no lining and so don't absorb water and so the level of buoyancy offered remains unchanged no matter how long you've been in the water.
CORE LATERAL STABILIZER (CLS)
Using a less flexible material on the core panels to stabilise the body. The suit feels stiff but once in the water it gives the feeling of swimming on a surfboard - greatly improving your body position and so also your speed.
The Yamamoto Corporation is the world’s main supplier of high-performance neoprene. Its seal represents quality, technology and innovation.
Yamamoto Corporation is regarded as the world’s top producer of neoprene for triathlon wetsuits in the world, and its 44cell neoprene is the pinnacle for flexibility, suppleness, fit and comfort. Orca uses 1.5mm panels of Yamamoto 44cell neoprene in the key underarm area of the Predator to compliment the super stretchy 0.88 Free arms-providing you with a wetsuit swimming experience never felt before.
0.88 Free is a revolutionary material developed by Orca. The five layer construction combined with a patented heat reflective Titanium coating is the secret behind the extraordinarily high insulation effect in such a lightweight material. This results in extreme stretch and flexibility, high buoyancy and insulation as well as low drag in the water. 0.88 Free really is the ultimate weapon for speed in the water.
The Core Lateral Stabilizer (CLS) system is a revolutionary new feature that provides body alignment assistance. The effect of 5mm Exo-Cell side panels alongside the 4mm Exo-Lift front panel is that of a flotation device - stabilising the core by preventing lateral movement without restricting rolling. The result is an effortlessly streamlined body position, allowing less fatigue and so a faster time in the water.
HydroLite panels make transition that extra bit faster using the super fast SCS (Nano ICE in the Predator) which combined with a special lining which absorbs less water to improve buoyancy while also being extremely sleek -making the suit fast to remove in transition saving you precious seconds.
Super Composite Skin (SCS) has become the benchmark for coating the smoothskin neoprene used in triathlon wetsuits, to reduce friction and increase speed through the water. Orca uses Yamamoto Corporation’s latest Nano SCS for an even lower drag coefficient, ensuring the fastest swim possible. The underwater coefficient of dynamic friction of the Nano SCS is 0.026 in comparison to 4.0 of regular neoprene. Less friction = more speed! Nano ICE is the latest upgrade to Nano SCS and is an Orca exclusive.
Based on common errors in swim technique Orca has identified patterns that have been repeated by triathletes over the years. According to these behaviour patterns, they’ve have identified three types of triathlon swimmers; Natural, Progressive and Total.
Total swimmers make only small mistakes and this is often found in their kicking technique, A little extra buoyancy helps solve this by raising the legs for a more effective horizontal position. For each type of Swimmer Orca has two suits, each at varying price points.
Total swimmer includes the Predator and the Sonar wetsuit. The predator includes Orca’s 0.88 material combined with CLS technology which improves stability and prevents twisting and snaking in the water. In addition, its Exo-lift technology, a revolutionary multi-layer material used on the lower trunk, limits elasticity in the leg area to help prevent bending at the knees when kicking. The panels in the lower trunk, around the hips, bottom and thighs, feature back-to-back panels of neoprene with no lining. This means there is no water absorption into the lining which provides consistent buoyancy however far you swim.
Whilst working as a swim coach, and from his first hand experience in competing in triathlon, Scott Unsworth realised that the wetsuits used at the time were completely inadequate for swimming. In 1992 Scott started up a company called Performance Speedsuits Ltd, based out of his parent's house in Auckland, New Zealand. He began to develop his "Speedsuits", which featured greater flexibility and buoyancy than other existing wetsuits. The business started with Scott selling his Speedsuits from the back of his car at swim meets and triathlon events. The Speedsuits quickly gained a following amongst athletes and the business started to grow. Scott was taking his first steps towards introducing what would become Orca, to the world. A young New Zealand triathlete named Hamish Carter became one of the first athletes to sign up with the company that is now Orca. Over the next 13 years Hamish Carter went on to become one of the best known triathletes in the world - culminating in a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
