The perfect balance between flexibility and buoyancy, this wetsuit has both right where you need them: buoyancy in the lower body and flexibility up top. With gender specific buoyancy this suit is the complete package, he creme de la creme of wetsuits
The Sonar is the complete package, the crème de la crème of wetsuits. The most versatile suit in Orca's range, most of the triathlete community will find it fits their budget and technical requirements. Ideal for Total Swimmers looking for the perfect balance between flexibility and buoyancy, this wetsuit has both right where you need them: Buoyancy in the lower body and flexibility up top. This combination helps you to keep the best position in the water, reducing drag. Regardless of the kit you´ve used up to now, this benchmark wetsuit has been specifically designed to never let you down.
This new technology, used in the lower body, provides swimmers with 30% more buoyancy. The secret is in its composition made up of hundreds of cavities between two treated layers of neoprene.
Core Lateral Stabiliser (CLS)
This panel provides lateral support in the abdomen to avoid lateral movement and reinforces your core. With this technology you will be able to maintain a good technique for longer.
The Yamamoto Corporation is the world’s main supplier of high performance neoprene. Its seal represents quality, technology and innovation.
Velcro has been added to the outer flap of the wetsuit, which together with the laser cut used in the collar seam reduces friction and chafing.
The inner Infinity Skin lining provides the feeling of absolute freedom. Designed based on a high-elasticity nylon that incorporates bamboo fibres, this technology is applied to the lining of Orca’s wetsuits to offer you greater flexibility with each stroke. This cloth maintains body heat longer, reduces body odour and the appearance of bacteria in your wetsuit.
A new feature in the new Sonar wetsuit is the addition of a thinner low leg panel, a Yamamoto composite with 39 cell nano SCS coating which reduces friction in the transitions. In addition, Hydrolite panels help make the wetsuit easier to remove so that your transitions are even faster.
Whilst working as a swim coach, and from his first hand experience in competing in triathlon, Scott Unsworth realised that the wetsuits used at the time were completely inadequate for swimming. In 1992 Scott started up a company called Performance Speedsuits Ltd, based out of his parent's house in Auckland, New Zealand. He began to develop his "Speedsuits", which featured greater flexibility and buoyancy than other existing wetsuits. The business started with Scott selling his Speedsuits from the back of his car at swim meets and triathlon events. The Speedsuits quickly gained a following amongst athletes and the business started to grow. Scott was taking his first steps towards introducing what would become Orca, to the world. A young New Zealand triathlete named Hamish Carter became one of the first athletes to sign up with the company that is now Orca. Over the next 13 years Hamish Carter went on to become one of the best known triathletes in the world - culminating in a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
