About the Michelin brand

The Michelin tyres saga begins 1891, with the invention of the first demountable tyre for bicycles. Over the ensuing years, Michelin has never stopped technological innovations for bicycles, such as the first flexible-bead clincher in 1978, the first tyre with a high-density carcass in 1983, and the first tyre with a high-performance silica rubber compound in 1995. In 2000, Michelin introduced the first tubeless tyre for mountain bikes, and has been testing tubeless road tyres in competition since 2003. Riding with total confidence in your tyres means that grip and safety must be optimal under any conditions, in extreme weather or at high speeds. It’s why year after year Michelin introduces technological innovations and develops products with ever-higher performance. Nowadays, the development of bicycle tyres benefits from the same research methods used in designing tyres for Formula 1 and even the space shuttle. Michelin is the only manufacturer developing tyres for such diverse R&D environments. At Michelin they are more than just a tyre manufacturer. They are a community of men and women committed to social responsibility. Below are examples of how they strive to reduce our impact on the environment while delivering greater value, riding pleasure and security.

Michelin ProTek Max City Road Tyre is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Carl1966 from Poor grip. Bought a pair of these Michelin replacing a pair of Kenda Road tyres. Inflated the new ones to about 60 psi the same as the old Kendas. I have noticed when cycling on tarmac they seem to grip fine but when you cycle along yellow or white painted lines on the road the tyres especially the rear one just seem to slide a bit like you are cycling on ice. I bought these tyres as they looked like a good tyre tread for grip in the wet and the dry and as they are Michelins would do the job well. Unfortunately not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by geoland22 from By far the best tyre you can buy... I had the previus model on my bike for many years(i have two pair of wheels, one with road tyres and one with offroad tyres to use them at any moment), no even on puncture for about 5000km, i used them many time offroad. So when the time came to change them i replace them with a pair of Maxxis, 3 puncture in less than 160km, the bike was slower and i bought thank god the new model of michelin, i gain me lost speed plus 2km at least!!! No puncture until now(more than 300km), i use them on terrains that you dont call them roads but they have asphalt and many holes, by far the best road tyre i have used on my MTB bike, i dont even carry an air pump or a spare inner tyre :P :P :P I feel so sure for them and so secure, i have seen that many had a fitting problem, but if you know how to fit a tyre you just need two spoon, pation and slowly slowly you can fit them VERY EASY, dont rush and don't drink coffee before you try to fit them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by PorkRider from Aaaargh! Bought these thinking Michelin, good brand. They are dreadful in the wet, sliding all over the place and they squirm when riding over imperfections in the road and drain covers. It says 'Made in Taiwan' on the side which probably explains the poor material. I don't feel confident at all with these tyres, my slick Continentals are miles better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cobb07 from Great road tyre for summer Bought to replace knobbly CX tyres - during the summer i'll mainly be on road so these are perfect, less road buzz than CX tyres and hopefully thick enough that the odd off road experience won't puncture them

Hi, looking to replace my maxxis detonator 700 x 25c tyres with these 700 x 28c tyres for the winter. Are they wider than 28mm as suggested in some comments i have limited space on forks and frame.
