About the Michelin brand

The Michelin tyres saga begins 1891, with the invention of the first demountable tyre for bicycles. Over the ensuing years, Michelin has never stopped technological innovations for bicycles, such as the first flexible-bead clincher in 1978, the first tyre with a high-density carcass in 1983, and the first tyre with a high-performance silica rubber compound in 1995. In 2000, Michelin introduced the first tubeless tyre for mountain bikes, and has been testing tubeless road tyres in competition since 2003. Riding with total confidence in your tyres means that grip and safety must be optimal under any conditions, in extreme weather or at high speeds. It’s why year after year Michelin introduces technological innovations and develops products with ever-higher performance. Nowadays, the development of bicycle tyres benefits from the same research methods used in designing tyres for Formula 1 and even the space shuttle. Michelin is the only manufacturer developing tyres for such diverse R&D environments. At Michelin they are more than just a tyre manufacturer. They are a community of men and women committed to social responsibility. Below are examples of how they strive to reduce our impact on the environment while delivering greater value, riding pleasure and security.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ming123 from Crack after a short distance It is a fast tyre. Install to both wheels, the rear wheel crack after 300km in normal ride....

Rated 4 out of 5 by cp55403 from Very good tyre Bought these to replace the OEM tyres on the bike. Did a bit of research and decided that the Michelin's offered a good blend of low rolling resistence and solid puncture protection. There are faster tyres out there and others with better puncture protection but these offered the best trade off for me. They also look the part with the Michelin logo which was an important consideration for me also. The tyres were nicely packaged and arrived on time as expected. Fitting the tyres was another story, they were extremely tight fitting on my Fulcrum rims. I had to resort in desperation to using dishwashing soap to get the tyres on to the rims after splitting one inner tube along the way and grazing my knuckles several times. I am slightly concerned that if I get a puncture at the side of the road I won't be able to fix it. Nevertheless, the tyres once on the bike look very good with that nice Michelin logo. They are coated with a flaky powder substance that must be a mould release compound or something similar. It's not an issue and wears off after one or two rides. The tyes are very fast rolling and extremely grippy in the wet and the dry. They do exactly what I expected and I am very happy. I have marked them down only because I was slightly disappointed at the tightness of the fit but that may be specific just to my rims and may not be an issue for other rim manufacturers. A very good tyre at a reasonable price from a top tier manufacturer. For what it's worth I only ever have Michelin's on my cars and my Dad used to work for them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AucklandJafa from Fast rolling with good traction These tires were easy to install, roll very well and have solid cornering and braking. Puncture resistance appears to be decent as well! Great everyday tire.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrispyVet from Fast, durable, cut resistant I have been running Conti’s on most bikes since having a bad experience with various Michelin tyres in terms of their susceptibility to cuts. These are much much better. Very fast, i would say faster than GP 4000 or 5000, very durable, I’ve done 2500 km on heavy roads before the rear has squared off, and not a single puncture or bad cut. I am 85kgs and run the 25s at 90 psi. Comfortable and fast.
