Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lock Really solid lock. It's very heavy and it gives me the piece of mind the bike will be safe and secure. Good lengh too if you need to wrap the chain around a bar. I got it on recommendation of a friend and I am really happy I got it. The chain cover is very heavy duty too which means it will protect the bike frame from getting scratched by the chain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty! This is the most solid and strong lock I have ever held in my hands. EVER. Thick and extremely strong chain, quality feels VERY high and I feel completely safe using this lock. This chain is NOT something you get through easily. It will probably be much quicker to break whatever your bike is chained to. The only drawback is that it is VERY heavy (almost 8 kg). It weighs almost the same as my bike, so it is not something to bring along when riding. It is for keeping your bike safe at home (where you leave the lock when riding). If you need a lock to bring along with the bike, then do not buy this one. Then I would recommend something much lighter, compromising a bit on safety though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than good enough... I think this is a very secure lock and I'm very happy with it. Sure, anything can be broken into with enough time, patience, equipment and expertise but in reality, the huge majority of thefts are of relatively lightly protected bikes. I take the same view with locks that I take of a bear coming into the campsite. I don't have to be the fastest runner on the site, I just need to be able to outrun one other camper and the bear will feast on him or her. In other words, one of these locks is highly likely to make your bike a tougher target than another one nearby where someone has been less careful. So you may not have the ultimate protection, whatever that is, but it will be a lot better than many. I've seen many a heavy lock attached to a mild steel post and an angle grinder will go through the post like butter, they can then deal with the lock later. This is more than good enough for most of us.

Ok for use with Carbon frame?

I've just bought this bike lock and it is super heavy. should i be concerned if i am using this with a carbon frame road bike? it will be secured across the top bar of the frame .

I can confirm that when locking the frame around the top tube, normally the weight is is taken by what ever you are locking the bike to. I would advise either a smaller lock of locking this via a different location if worried that this might damage your frame.
