Light. Protective. Fast.
What’s perhaps most astonishing when you put first on the Protone is the fact it feels so light. Weighing in at a scant 230g, it still offers you some of the most effective impact protection available. While it's light and protective, it's fast too. Wind-tunnel tested and tuned, the Protone slips through the air with minimal fuss so you do too.
Safety First
As for safety, which is why you’ve come to Kask, the brand continues to use its Multi In-Moulding Technology to create a polycarbonate cover for the top, base ring and the back of the helmet’s shell. This is joined to the inner polystyrene cap via KASK’s In-Moulding Technology to improve the shell’s shock absorption. Its strengthened frame further reduces the risk of an impact from breaking the shell. Finally, the top area is reinforced with an internal sub-structure that increases crash protection and helps maintain the helmet’s integrity after impact.
CoolMax® Padding - Comfort to the Max
Comfort levels are also exceptional thanks to the superb CoolMax® padding. The innovative multi-layer open cell construction process gives you maximum comfort and performance, while the CoolMax® technology boosts both its breathability and sweat-absorption. The innovative design also reduces head-to-pad contact by up to 70% for fabulous airflow, keeping cool air wooshing across your head via the copious amount of vents.
Kask Octo-Fit
A rubberised Micro Dial adjuster provides improved finger grip, while the floating cradle contact points combine internal gel pads for optimum comfort. These supports are designed to oscillate freely through 180° allowing a perfect fit on any shaped head. The Skeletal Brackets of the cradle have been designed and refined to provide the best fit and support whilst being as light as possible.
Rounding proceedings out impressively is an eco-leather chinstrap that works hard to prevent skin irritation, there’s a self-adjusting lateral divider for a comfortable and ergonomic fit for all head shapes and sizes and there’s even a bag thrown in for good measure. Believe the hype: the Protone really is the complete package.

The arms of the cradle fasten to the inside of the helmet's expanded polystyrene body at your temples and again at the rear where you get a generous amount of height adjustment. There was still plenty of height adjustment available once I had it set right for me...The tightness of the fit is adjusted via a clicky dial at the back and you can alter the sideways position of those occipital pads independently so they sit in the most comfortable place. The overall result is that you can get a secure fit in no time at all...One other feature that I really like is that the chinstrap isn't simply a continuation of the upper straps...the straps always sit flat and there are no dividers to set underneath your ears...The antibacterial and antimicrobial inner padding – removable for washing and replaceable if it wears out – is made from Coolmax and most of it has a honeycomb inner surface. Along with large ventilation holes at the front of the helmet, it helps keep your head feeling cool and well aired...on a recent trip to the South of France (very nice, thanks for asking) where I did a lot of climbing in high temperatures and I found the venting to be very effective. I didn't get a noticeably hot, sweaty head, or anything close to that, despite relatively little venting towards the rear of the helmet. There's good airflow right across the top of your head that keeps the humidity down...One of Kask's biggest boasts about the Protone is that it has been designed using computational fluid dynamics software to have one of the lowest drag coefficients of any ventilated helmet – particularly important to the likes of Team Sky, obviously. Kask don't put a figure on their aero claims and we're not in a position to provide one, so you'll have to take their word for it or not, as you see fit...you can take off your glasses and stow them on the helmet using the vents as anchor points without increasing the drag. I used the helmet with several different types of eyewear and they all sat up there securely...
Highly adjustable, cool and comfortable helmet that claims impressive aerodynamics
