Top Features of the Continental Hometrainer II MTB Folding Trainer Tyre

Harder compound for increased service life
Far quieter than standard tyres to keep the neighbours happy
Cold running compound eliminates risk of tread separation
Not suitable for on-road use

Product Data

Thanks to its special cold-running compound the Hometrainer II does not experience the heat build up of a road tyre nor does it suffer the tread separation that the road tyre is prone to under the special loads occurring when cycling and braking on the roller's revolving drums.

The Hometrainer II has been designed explicitly for rollers and is not suitable for on-road use.

About the Continental brand

More than 100 years experience in the development and production of bicycle tyres has made Continental a unique company within the industry. Continental is the only German bicycle tyre manufacturer to produce its tyres in Germany. Knowing this serves as a mighty incentive to our engineers and everyone else involved in the manufacturing process to constantly strive for further innovations. In our technology and development center in Korbach, we are constantly developing new revolutionary technologies such as the unbeatable Black Chili Compound and the ultimate Vectran™ Breaker anti-puncture technology, both used at the top end of race sport. These technologies demand sophisticated processes to ensure our legendary end-product quality, and these innovations as well as the new “ProTection” and ”RaceSport” technology for MTB tyres, can only be manufactured in our factory in Germany – “Handmade in Germany”. In order to offer the best tyre for any application, we rely equally on dialogue with our professional racers, hobby cyclists and everyday bike riders. This results not only in high-end products for top sports applications such as the new Podium TT or the revolutionary downhill tyre “Der Kaiser”, but also tyres for everyday use like the new innovative combination EcoContact/EcoContact Plus as a companion to the latest e-bike trend. As a global player, Continental also maintains high-tech production facilities outside of Germany, where Continental tyres are produced for you with an equal degree of care and dedication. One thing all Continental bicycle tyres have in common is that they are developed in the technology center in Korbach, Germany, where they also undergo strict inspection. Our heart and soul is behind the phrase “Handmade in Germany”, with all of its products and technologies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SolitaryWasp from It’s a training tyre and it folds. Great product! Bought this for my Dad’s 84th birthday, to use on his old mountain bike with his new turbo trainer. Works a treat. He’s very pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by emanuelmelo from Silent, smooth and durable (so far...) Lets start with the normal MTB tire: it's threaded and the ruber is intended to roll at much lower temperatures than the ones you may reach in a home trainer. By being slick, this Contis are much more silent and and smooth than the standard MTB tires in the home trainer - you'll almost not hear it and you definitly won't feel it, as it doesn't have the threaded sufarce to cause vibration. So far, I've done about 500km in the home trainer with them and they only have a small wear mark in the contact patch.

What does 'folding' mean..?

I don't understand the use of the word 'folding' here. Do they mean it just folds over and fits into a small package for shipping, or does folding refer to some kind of special design feature..? Thanks.
Asked by: UniqueNickname2
This folding means that they can be folded to fit in a small package for shipping or storage.

You need a road wheel specific trainer tyre, Vittoria do decent ones. I use Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Home Trainer Tyre 700 x 23.

Can you use this on a road bike wheel (set up on a turbo)?

Asked by: LucyUK
Unfortunately this is designed for a 26" rim and would not be suitable on a standard 700c road wheel. Please see a link below to suitable tyres. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/road/?s=trainer+tyre I hope this helps.
