Columbus Minimal Road Forks is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by kevj from Brilliant bit of kit I purchased this for my Lynskey titanium frame which had a fork that only took 23c tyres. This beautiful looking bit of kit is 130g lighter than my original fork and will easily take a 25c tyre. It's an absolute bargain, especially as it comes with the steerer tube compressor. It looks beautiful on the bike and its minimal looks perfectly match the narrow titanium classic lines of my Lynskey. Recommended! Forks with these classic lines and straight steerers are very hard to find. Well done Columbus for not forgetting the 'steel is real' market.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fong from sleek This Minimal fork is just what the name suggests, nothing redundant, no gimmick, and super lightweight. Love the simple line of the fork and it's going to look good with my new modern classic build.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nele from Light and good looking I purchased this fork for my 1997 Basso Viper. Fork is very good looking, and it compliments the frame nicely, although I prefer the look of old Look HSC2 straight forks. It weighs 345 g uncut, and about 370 with the plug, which is not super light, but it saves a lot compared to any steel fork. Build quality seems good, and the steerer tube is beefy. It's stiff enough for a steel bike, meaning that it doesn't take away any liveliness of the frame. It's a very comfortable ride, and I recommend this product as a good upgrade to any 1" steerer bike.

What else do I need to use this fork?

I will be purchasing the 1" steerer version of this fork from Wiggle very soon and I need to know what else do I need to purchase to put this fork on my bike? Right now I have a threaded fork on my bike so I also have a threaded headset on my bike. And also my stem is NOT a clamp on stem....it is one of the really old ones that just goes down into the head tube. What kind of threadless headset do I need. Do I need a expander bung since this steerer is carbon? Do I need a special top cap? I will also need to buy a new stem to clamp onto this fork....what kind of stem fit onto this fork? Thanks!!!!
Asked by: yongwook10
Hello, you will need a new threadless headset to start with. Any non-integrated 1" HS will be fine. Any 1" threadless stem will fit right on. You can also use 1-1/8 stems with a shim. A Columbus top cap and a expander are included with the purchase of the fork. You wll also need spacers to adjust the stem height. Buy the 1" ones. When you have the new headset, spacers, stem and the fork ready, 1. install the headset into the frame and fork. 2. slide the fork into the frame, slam on the stem and headsets you wish to install. 3. Measure the top height and mark it. 4. take out the fork and cut it on the marked line. 5. Re-install the fork, put on all the spacers and the stem. 6. Tighten the top cap and then the stem screws. 7. Ride.

Does the fork comes with an expander plug?

Asked by: Tanhueco
no it does not. I would suggest buying one of these: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fsa-compressor-pro-1-18-top-cap-th883/ they are the best I have used in over 20years.

Can this fork be used with a semi-integrated headset?

I know it says non-integrated but the review in Cycling Plus is ambiguous and I would love to fit this fork if possible. Is it just a question of aesthetics or will it simply not fit a semi-integrated set-up? Thanks
Asked by: CD1000
This fork should be fine with a semi integrated set up, as you mention the only issue being one of aesthetics.

do columbus recommend a spacer on top of the stem?

lots of manufacturers say yes, some say no. i can't find any specific fitting instructions from columbus. thanks
Asked by: skive
I can confirm that Columbus do not require a spacer above the stem but if you would like to leave one for adjustment you can and it will not effect the forks. I hope this helps.

When will the 1 inch be back in stock? And what headset to use?

Hi there. I am looking to upgrade a set of 635 threaded 1 inch forks and these look like they would do the job great. I appreciate that i would need to change to a threadless headset. What type of headsets are compatible with these forks? Cheers, Mike.
Asked by: mwarriner
I received shipment to the USA on Oct 20, 2012. They were in stock since Oct 13, 2012. Headset to use can either be Cane Creek EC30 (40, 100, or 110 flavors) or the Cris King for 1" forks.

The fork is "Non-Integrated"...What does that mean???

In the description of the fork, it says that it is "non-integrated"...What does that mean?
Asked by: yongwook10
Non Integrated is the old type fork/headset combo. The headset has the upper and lower bearing cups visible. It does add to the stack height of the headtube so you need to keep that in mind. My Fuji frame is a 58cm. I had trouble finding a good used fork whose steerer tube was long enough for the headset stack height, head tube height, stem spacers and stem height..... It added up and the only way to replace the original fork was to purchase a brand new one and cut i.

Would the length of this fork be a good fit for my 52cm frame?

I have a 1997 Cannondale R200 race bike with CAD2 aluminum frame. My question is: First of all, would this fork fit into my frame? Second of all, would the size of this fork be a good fit considering my frame is 52cm and it is a racing frame? I don't want to negatively affect the geometry and angles of my racing frame with a fork that doesn't fit it well.
Asked by: yongwook10
Hello, this fork steerer comes un-cut (very long), so it can fit any frame from 66cm to 45cm. Since the steerer is carbon, I would suggest you to find a bike shop to help you with the installation. This fork fitted my 1996 Bianchi frame with an aggressive traditional racing geometry perfectly.
