Tri-Align™ Caliper Positioning System

Another original Avid technology making your life better—there’s never been an easier brake to install and adjust. With Avid’s Tri-Align Caliper Positioning System™, aligning the caliper to the rotor literally takes seconds. Just loosen the CPS™ bolts a little, and then squeeze the brake lever while re-tightening the bolts. Perfect caliper alignment—just like that.

Avid BB7 Road Disc Brake is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fred108 from DISC IS INCLUDED I bought this item to upgrade the existing mechanical brakes on my Voodoo Nakisi gravel bike which were terrible as standard. These BB7 fit perfectly and were simple to install. They provide far more braking force than the standard and have eliminated rubbing noises due to their improved adjustment mechanism. The only problem I had was that I also ordered a new disc not realising that a disc comes with the brake caliper included in the price so I returned the extra disc I had purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FreddyW from Fantastic and reliable I bought a pair of these for my winter/commuter bike and set them up with 160mm cleansweep rotors. Setup was quick and easy, centering took about 5 minutes (wind in the pads evenly until they're clamped on the disc, undo the bolts holding the caliper on, do the bolts up again, wind the pads back out until they stop rubbing on the disc). Each pad can be dialed in by hand so they're easy to adjust. In use they're great. Even with the stock pads they're powerful enough for 2-finger braking 99% of the time, and modulation is good enough to really use the power that's available. They occasionally squeak in pouring rain but otherwise they've been pretty much silent over the last 5000km. They're still running the original pads and still work a treat! Its worth noting that they should be paired with good cables (decent shimano or Jagwire) to avoid the dreaded! Pros: they're powerful, easy to use, and haven't needed any adjusting in over 5000km besides one click inward on the front pads. Cons: they're a bit heavy and not the prettiest things ever.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MrsTurtle from let's be honest, these have had their day there are much better brakes on the market for not much more money, so don't bother

Rated 4 out of 5 by DrIMac from A step up from stock Replaced my Tektro Lyra (which were the bane of my life) with these. Still need adjusting once a month or so and a mechanic recommended replacing the brake pads after only 6 months (they are sintered) so aren't hassle free, but adjustment is relatively easy with all the various bolts and dials and they're coping well with winter commuting. Can be a bit noisy, particularly after a cold night in the garage (don't think my neighbours like them) but are good stoppers with decent feel and are the best cable actuated brakes I've found. Hydraulics still rule, but given the price these will stay with me until they fall apart.

Front Brake

You only appear to have the rear brake options - can the same be used as a front brake as well - ie purchase 2 for a front / rear set?
Asked by: JamesWC
The 160 also comes with an adapter to run as afron brake. The 140 can only be run as a rear.

canondale bad boy

I want to run these brake calipers on a canondale bad boy 9, 2012 with shimano 105 sti levers. is it best to get avid bb7 or avid bb5? and should I get road or MTB versions?
Asked by: chase3
As you are using Shimano 105 STI levers, you will require the road versions of these brakes. With regard to BB7 or BB5 options, the BB7's are largely considered to be the best cable actuated disc brakes on the market so if you are looking for ultimate performance, these should be your best option.

is it just the rotor that is different between the 160mm and the 140mm

Asked by: lymer
I can confirm the only difference is the size of the rotor

Will Avid BB7 fit 2011 Croix de Fer

Would the Avid BB7 be a straight replacement for the O.E. Shimano BR-R505 brake calipers that were fitted to the 2011 model Croix de Fer? Would I need to change the rotors if they were?
Asked by: dobinsman
These will indeed be compatible, though you will not need to change the rotors.

Avid BB7

Will this fit to my Btwin Rockrider 8.1 (2014) disc brake type. My hydraulic brake is leaking. Can Avid BB7 be the right replacement? Does the price include front and back brakes? Do I need anything else?
Asked by: Newcyclist64
this would work but the price is for the brake caliper and disc rotor only. You'd also need to get the lever and cables to fit it to the bike.
