Avid BB7 MTB Disc Brake is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Selmersax1 from Simple mechanics These brakes are just the job for me. I can't think why I would change to hydraulic when these avid bb7s are available. Simple in operation and simple to maintain , oh and they make you stop!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Finnishadam from Still the best All my friends think i'm mad for using cable discs, but these have never let me down. Just installed on a third bike. Easy to set up. Easy to adjust. Good braking. If something breaks, easy to repair - even if travelling. (Unlike hydraulics...) Whatever the downsides, (and i'm sure there are ) i still think the pros outweigh them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lyla from Disc Brake This disc brake although states MTB I have used it on my Trek hybrid commuter bike to give it a new lease of life. This is the second one purchased used the previous one for a Marin hybrid, so knew it was suitable & good quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by naaimoos from Best brake in my book and I hate reading The best and easiest brake to set up and brake with. Screw hydraulics and I use cable if a brake works this well. Think just about all Avid stuff is good and use 3 of these and Avid V-brakes on all my seven bikes with there comfy 2 finger levers and strong this for about 20 years now.

I'm currently running a BB5 on my Specialized Trcross. Will this BB7 be a straight swap for my broken front brake please?

Asked by: End2EndG
The BB7 brakes should be a direct swap, however please ensure that you select the correct model, Road or MTB, based around your current brake lever set up.

Is there still an adapter to allow this to replace a frame mounted caliper for rear fitting, as in photo below please?

Mount adapter for rear and fromt

Good day, it is little bit unclear on bundle content from description, do all the sizes come with mount adapters for rear and front, or only front as per description? Is there also option to add post to is mount for front/rear? If you add "related" section to the product description would be very helpful to purchase all needed components in one go.
Asked by: rumy
I can confirm that the caliper will come with the correct mount for the disc size. I hope this helps.

Brake lever compatibility

I've go a Boardman 2010 comp hybrid with Avid FR-5 levers and AVID BB5 road disc brakes, will I be able to upgrade to AVID BB7 mountain disc brakes and still use the same levers or will I need to buy AVID BB7 road brakes? One of the reasons I'm checking is the AVID BB7 mountain generally seems cheaper than the road version.
Asked by: Redshock
I can confirm that the BB5 and BB7 levers and calipers should be cross-compatible without any issues.

What is the advantage of choosing a smaller disk size?

Is there any advantage to choosing a smaller disk size other than maybe a tiny weight saving? It seems to me it makes sense to get the biggest available (for the front wheel at least).
Asked by: Memascii
Having a smaller rotor allows you to have more controllable power.
