Product Data

Cycle Shoe Type: Three Bolt
Cycle Shoe Closing: Dial
Road: Yes

A unique design by the Assos Werksmannschaft and made exclusively by the team's tech partner, Lake. The ASSOS cyclingSlipperG1 is based on Lake's top-of-the-line model but features 32 little details specified by the ASSOS Werksmannschaft, making this cycling shoe unique to Assos.

The G1 uses real kangaroo leather because it offers supreme softness and its excellent ability to adapt to each wearer's foot. The G1’s real wow! factor is the feeling of power transmission its construction generates. It's almost bionic: you feel like your legs are one with the crank unit and the power is being transmitted directly to the road with no losses or distortion.

One key feature is the two-tone style effect these shoes have. The shoe features white a panel on the outside (Boa), whilst the inner side is black (see below).

Assos Jingo G1 Helmet

Italian shoes, in general, have a narrower footbed in the front; the G1’s footbed is slightly wider, which allows your toes more room to move and breathe.

Custom Fitting

It’s simple. Put the shoes in the oven at 80°C degrees for 10 minutes. Wear two socks, put the shoe on, sit down with your knees bent at 90 degrees, then use your hands to push or pull the carbon fibre into form where needed. Let it cool down without moving. Done! This process can be repeated as needed, should you ever feel pressure points (after the first 1000km).

About the Assos brand

Assos are one of the world's pioneers and specialists in producing high quality cycling clothes and accessories. They are located in a region of Switzerland that has maintained a long standing tradition in first class textile engineering. In the 1970's, Toni Maier-Moussa, founder and chairman of Assos accidently invented lycra cycling clothing, whilst trying to create the ultimate bicycle. During the wind tunnel tests of the first ever carbon-fibre bike, Toni inadvertently found that lycra downhill ski racing suits had much less drag than the woolen-knitted cycling clothes of the time. To this day Assos firmly believe in total product competence, delivering optimum function and comfort, by researching and making its cycling clothing and accessories from the very best materials.

Assos G1 Road Cycling Shoe is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by walter61 from Buy These Seen these. Bought them. tried them.. Incredible shoes by Assos Lake Combo. Scientific.. who am I to doubt these people. Initially on purchase.. instantly there was a slight pinching on the outside of the right shoe at the widest point. I ignored it.. jumped on the Madone and off I went. Pinching went on the bike.. as for the shoe.. they are a Joy to own. It was easy for me to buy as I wearLake 237s custom fitted at Cyclefit in Holborn. Size m/m 41. So this was the exact same size for me.. only with Assos involved. After doing a Flat 50mile yesterday with a Mountain Top Finish. They were like a Glove on my foot with 100 percent power to the Pedal.. All I can say is .. Buy Them. Pure Class and the usual from Wiggle.. Super !

Rated 1 out of 5 by RobT208 from Terrible fit!!! This has no bearing on Wiggle.. They were as awesome as ever :) These shoes are a complete waste of money. The heating up of the shoe is a pure gimmick, the shoes are already too narrow and feel dreadful, so you follow the instructions to the letter, gently apply pressure to open the sides a little to relieve the pressure..they don't really move that much. Still too tight, and now I have horrible rough/lumpy sides of the shoes where the fibres/layers separate during the heating process. I worse them for a 112 mile cycle and my feet were on fire after 40miles..plenty of length in the shoe, the Boa closure works fine, but the carbon sides are crucifying my feet and cannot be made wider despite claims to be a "cycling slipper" AVOID!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LanceB from Lovely shoe, but did not fit my feet Looked great on first inspection. Immediately obvious that the shoe was too narrow and too long. Ordered my usual size 46, but seems these are made for long narrow feet. I appreciate they can be heat moulded to fit, but I'm not risking a small fortune only to find they are still too narrow. Question to Wiggle: Is there a similar shoe that fits a wider, shorter foot?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rager54 from Superb! These are top draw! Look great and the fit is the best I've ever had. Soles really hold your feet and are easy to mould.... Makes ordinary cycling shoes feel.... Well very ordinary! Lightweight and well made... You get what you pay for

Does moulding also adjust the shape of the arch section in the shoe?

I currently wear Specialised S Works with their +++insole as I have high arches. I have just purchased these and I notice that these shoes do come with an insole that is similar to the Specialised but not exactly. Would it be better to get high lift insoles and mould the shoe with the insoles fitted or will the moulding process allow the arch section to form to my foot correctly with the Lake insole?
Asked by: Andrew2103
This would depend on the height of your instep in relation to the volume the shoe allows when you first try them on before molding. Ideally we'd suggest retaining the footbed in the shoe as well during the molding process, however keep in mind the Boa laces can push the tops of the shoes down onto the top of your instep so there may always be a pressure spot there. There are other shoes on our site that are designed specifically for higher volume footwear, such as the Giro Trans E70, which may also be worth a look.
