A-Lock Engineering
A-Lock engineering is all about creating shorts with incredible stability and a seat insert that is always perfectly positioned. The start of this system is a new fabric, Type.441 textile. This is a fabric which has exceptional compression qualities and with its silk feel is incredibly comfortable against the skin. Not only that it's quick-wicking, anti-odour and durable, the perfect fabric for performance cycling.
Float like a Butterfly
The next part of the above A-Lock engineering system is a significant advance in the panel and construction design. While the class-leading S7 shorts used a four-panel construction, the S9 uses just two. The result of using just the two panels is a reduction in seams leading to less weight and even more comfort.
The two panels are then engineered into Assos' unique 'butterfly' panel design, snugly wrapping the legs and back to create a brand new ergoBox structure. This holds the insert securely in place for an incredible feeling of support and comfort no matter how intense your efforts.
rollBar Bib Design
The rollBar bib strap system provides unrivalled support of the lower section of the shorts. It acts just like an anti-sway bar in a car, the straps stabilising and securing the seat insert in place as you move. The straps are attached across the same seam as the insert, maintaining the perfect degree of tension as you transfer weight in and out of the saddle.
The bib straps themselves are a combination of highly elastic materials and a single piece in the back forming an A-frame which supports the shorts perfectly. In the front, the straps are made of a more flexible material, with an antibacterial carbon weave, to wick moisture and lay flat - the result is extremely lightweight straps you will barely notice.
S9 RS Equipe Seat Pad
The RS Equipe Seat Pad delivers the comfort you need to concentrate on your performance. A super-soft antibacterial microfibre offers a luxurious feel against the skin while kraterCooler holes ensure excellent ventilation, preventing sweat build-up and promoting freshness. A combination of 3D three-layer perforated waffle foam and superAir microShock memory foam core work together to give support to your sit bones and quick adaption to your body position whenever you shift weight or move in and out of the saddle.
Assos are one of the world's pioneers and specialists in producing high quality cycling clothes and accessories. They are located in a region of Switzerland that has maintained a long standing tradition in first class textile engineering. In the 1970's, Toni Maier-Moussa, founder and chairman of Assos accidently invented lycra cycling clothing, whilst trying to create the ultimate bicycle. During the wind tunnel tests of the first ever carbon-fibre bike, Toni inadvertently found that lycra downhill ski racing suits had much less drag than the woolen-knitted cycling clothes of the time. To this day Assos firmly believe in total product competence, delivering optimum function and comfort, by researching and making its cycling clothing and accessories from the very best materials.
